Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya is a leading sarod maestro from Kolkata. He started training under his sitar-playing father Shyam Sundar Bhattacharya before taking up the sarod under Pandit Ravi Laha. He went on to become the seniormost disciple of the late Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta, and seeks to uphold his guru’s Senia Shahjahanpur gharana tradition today. His daughter Debasmita is also building an exciting sarod career, having imbibed his refined, fluid approach to improvisation.
